March 2012

Our daughter, Ruby Joy Luse, passed away after a brief and courageous fight with pneumonia on March 14th, 2012 at Children's National Medical Center, Washington DC. Ruby lived a beautiful and heroic 2 1/2 years, teaching us what love looks like.

A follow up with further details pertaining to a service and address for condolences will be posted. Thank you for your love and prayers - steadily for Ruby - and now for us.

Sincerely, Mitch&Katie

And the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 35:10

February-March 2012

Friends,

We have had a busy two months with Ruby who has been in and out of the hospital mostly related to her liver function. We have been using CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and are so grateful for their expertise and care of families in so many ways.

Ruby underwent a liver biopsy and many other tests which were difficult to go through. Ruby has been much less responsive since the last hospitalization, not waking up much. She's really not feeling well and not acting herself. This could be connected to liver function or something else. Needless to say, we've been busy trying to figure out what is going on and how to help.

The good news is that her liver numbers have been improving the last two weeks and no one can explain why. We look to Him and thank Him who surely has an explanation for these unexplained good reports. She was looking very jaundice, which has gone away almost completely now. The other good news is that Ruby has been gaining weight for the first time in over a year, and the vomiting episodes have been scarce. This, as you know, is a major breakthrough that we have all been hoping for a long time.

We are feeling a bit anxious for Ruby's alertness to return. If you've experienced illness like this you'll understand when I say we miss her in the midst of it. We maintain hope that the liver labs we are seeing and subtle signs of recovery will turn shortly into full recovery and she'll be on the upswing again.

Thank you for your continued prayers:
*Returned alertness and interaction
*Continued and complete healing of liver function
*Continued growth and development unto life and health

Thank you! We love Ruby, and honestly - love taking care of her.

Mitch&Katie

p.s. Attached is a fun little video from before Ruby got sick, she loves her Daddy!
